I decided to take a CCIE Security bootcamp. I chose Internetwork Expert mainly because of convenience and also because one of the instructors were pretty convincing that I should attend theirs. This is day 1 so I plan on writing on the experience, difficulty level and lessons learned. Please feel free to post comments if you have any questions on how it goes.
==============================
I completed day 1 of the bootcamp. We covered both the ASA and IOS Firewalls. Lab work was done after each discussion. The practice labs were fairly easy but one thing I found is that I have issues paying attention to detail.
Definitely made some mistakes only because I didnt completely read through a question. After you lab up the problem you are given you can go back and check your answers. This is my only issue with the class so far. I would really like the type of format where everyone in the class does the problem and then there is a class review. There are different ways to do things so it would be good to see how we all went about completing our tasks. The instructor so far has been very knowledgeable and answers questions quickly. A few things to note so far:
1. Policy nat does not support ICMP Types like echo in the access-list. You have to use just icmp in the policy nat ACL.
2. Ensure you read the each question and apply it to all devices in the flow of the question. Does a change on a router require a firewall further down the path to have ports open?
Pretty easy first day. Looking forward to the VPN section tomorrow.

Looking forward to reading about your experience.
